When it is you, your family, friends, or co-workers waiting for or receiving treatment, having the most up-to-date resources really hits home. We wish for the best cancer treatment available; the best care possible to ensure the best chance of living a complete, healthy, and happy life.
Choc’laCure was created from these personal experiences and is dedicated to purchasing equipment used in treatment of men, women, and children receiving care at the Saskatoon Cancer Centre. This includes not only Saskatoon residents, but also the population in surrounding communities and the northern half of the province.
We are proud to say that our Choc’laCure Committee is completely volunteer based. The opportunity to improve cancer care in our province is a privilege and is highly motivating!
More than $2,190,000 has been raised since 2007
with 100% of the money raised directly funding equipment.

About the Advanced Medical Imaging & Treatment Planning Initiative
Fundamental to radiation oncology care is the use of medical imaging to help develop exact treatment plans specific to a patients's case. Examples of the equipment and software that will assist the Saskatoon Cancer Centre delivery care and improve quality and safety for radiation therapy include:
- Contrast Injector -- Currently, this service is not available within the Saskatoon Cancer Centre. Patients need to be seen in the Health Region facilities. Contrast media injectors allow the ability for oncologists to see the differences between certain organs or tissues, which help pinpoint the exact location of where treatment should be delivered.
- Velocity Software -- Provides more processing tools for CT imaging. This would be particularly helpful for patients with prostate and head & neck cancers, allowing the SCA to store, retrieve and review medical imaging and treatment planning information.
- Profiler 2 -- This is a device used to measure and analyze the Linac as it delivers radiation therapy. It would further help further improve safety for patients ensuring that every Linac is delivering the optimum beams to very strict calibrations and tolerances each and every time they are used.
- ArchCheck -- This is a device used to measure and analyze very complex radiation therapy treatments before it is actually delivered to a patient.
- Quality Assurance Software -- Being able to see in real-time the performance of a Linac is beneficial to ensuring the very highest level of quality in care for each and every patient that is treated at the Saskatoon Cancer Centre.
The funds raised by Choc'laCure will make this new two-year project a reality.
