Cancer… It has affected all of us. It has had an impact on our families, our friends and our community.
In 2007, Choc’laCure, raised funds in excess of $57,000 for the purchase of Model Based Segmentation software for the Saskatoon Cancer Centre.
The new technology maps the body of each cancer patient requiring radiation therapy to provide more precise, consistent and time saving treatment.
This event over the past three years has raised over $100,000 for the treatment of cancer here in Saskatoon. Plans are currently underway to make Choc’laCure 2008 even more successful.
Our goal in 2008, is to raise $100,000 for the purchase of a Cone Beam CT. This equipment will improve the accuracy and speed of radiation treatment at the Saskatoon Cancer Centre. With the Cone Beam CT, therapists can quickly adapt radiation treatment as the tumor changes in response to therapy. The Cone Beam CT can even track the movement of a tumor in the lung as the patient breathes! It's exciting to be a small part of helping the Saskatoon Cancer Centre provide care for people in Saskatchewan.
